What I ate in Rome

When I go to restaurants whilst I’m travelling, I always keep my camera out on the table so that I can take photos of the local cuisine. In Rome I did exactly that, capturing the delicious Italian food that I ate. I’ve never done a post like this before, but I thought I’d show you the different food I ate in Rome and also throw in some restaurant recommendations too. Food in Rome wasn’t anywhere near expensive as we predicted and I was amazed at how affordable some of the meals were!

Pizza

On the first evening that we were there, I had a delicious mozzarella, parmesan and aubergine pizza that was so authentically Italian. We’d been travelling for most of the day and hadn’t eaten a lot, so it’s no surprise that I got through quite an impressive amount of it. It was so yummy and well worth the wait! The restaurant was situated near the Sant’Angelo bridge and called ‘Ponte Vittorio’.

For lunch the next day, I had a slice of mozzarella and tomato pizza at a little café in the city centre. The Italian sandwiches had looked lovely, but I’m fussy when it comes to sandwiches abroad, so I was quite happy to stick with a slice of pizza.

Pasta

We went back to Ponte Vittorio on our last night and this time I had lasagne instead. It was absolutely delicious and just the right portion size. Sometimes lasagne portions can be huge!

Bruschetta

Bruschetta is what I always order for starter at Italian restaurants in the UK, so I really wanted to have local Italian bruschetta whilst we were in Italy. I had it at Ponte Vittorio on our final night and it was great.

Ice cream

Even though it was January and Winter in Rome, I still wanted to have some ice cream whilst we were in the city. We visited the nostalgic ice cream parlour Giolitti’s and I ordered cinnamon and hazelnut. The flavours worked so well together and it was the perfect afternoon treat!

What’s your favourite type of Italian food?
Thanks for reading my blog today.
