Emile and Emily – VAULT Festival review
Despite being interested in theatre for years, 2022 was the first year that I really got to experience Fringe or off West End…
London as a city has so much exciting theatre to be enjoyed, beyond the West End and the theatre district. Considered as ‘off West End’ theatre, there are several venues throughout the city which provide theatre makers with production spaces to try out new material, develop productions and also revive existing plays and musicals. From intimate pub theatres to larger venues such as the National Theatre and Southbank Centre, audiences can enjoy shows at various locations throughout the city. Take Operation Mincemeat for example, the hugely successful musical started out at the New Diorama Theatre in 2019, before transferring to Southwark Playhouse and the Riverside Studios, on its journey to its current West End home at The Fortune Theatre.
