First shows announced for Edinburgh Fringe 2024

Today is a very exciting day in the Edinburgh Fringe calendar as the first shows are revealed for the 2024 festival. From midday, 276 productions will be available on edfringe.com, covering comedy, dance, musicals and opera, theatre and more. Officially kicking off the countdown to the Fringe and another exciting summer of arts in Edinburgh, shows are being revealed across four dates: Thursday 22nd February, Thursday 4th April, Thursday 9th May and Wednesday 12th June. The latter marks the full programme launch, which can be accessed online via the festival’s website or in person at selected retailers. Running from 02 – 26 August, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe will be celebrating its 77th year in 2024 and I for one cannot wait to get back to the Scottish capital this summer.

It’s never too early to start planning your Fringe trip!

If you’ve followed this website for a little while, you will know that the festival is a highlight of my year. I absolutely adore Edinburgh Fringe and everything it stands for, celebrating artists of all backgrounds and providing a platform for performers from all over the world. Whilst each show chooses when their tickets will go on sale, being live on the Fringe website early gives participants a longer window to sell tickets and plan their finances for the festival.

A sneak peek at some of the shows

Of the 200+ shows on sale today, I was particularly excited to learn about the musicals and operas. ‘Somewhere’ is a new fantasy musical which will be based at theSpaceUK, with a book by Sarah Bishop and music and lyrics by The Dunwells. Additionally, the much talked about ‘Gwyneth Goes Skiing’ is opening at The Pleasance, fresh off the back of a recent London run.

In the theatre genre, Purple Hat Theatre are presenting ‘A Time Traveller’s Life’, described as ‘a Fringe show about the Fringe’ and for comedy, Catherine Cohen, Chloe Petts and Rosie Jones are some of the already announced comedians at the festival this year. Within the dance, physical theatre and circus category, ‘The Black Blues Brothers’ are returning to Assembly with their acrobatic extravaganza and for music, Night Owl Shows are back at theSpaceUK with favourites from previous years, as well as some new productions for 2024. I am particularly thrilled by the addition of ‘The Elton John Story’ to their festival programme.

Here’s to another Edinburgh Fringe!

These are just a handful of the shows on offer, with the full list being available over at edfringe.com later today. If you’re interested in visiting the festival this year, I definitely recommend taking a look, so that you can start planning your trip. I also have a first-timers guide available, which features all of the things I learnt at my first Edinburgh Fringe.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Love Kat xxxx
