My favourite photo spots in Canterbury

It’s been over a week since I finished University and I’ve had a great time celebrating in Canterbury. In between catch ups with friends, I’ve been trying to get outside with my camera as much as possible, exploring the areas of Canterbury that I don’t usually visit. For today’s post, I thought I’d show you my favourite photo spots in the city: some which are popular with tourists and others which only really locals are aware of.

Butchery Lane

Butchery Lane in Canterbury, Kent

The inner city street with a Cathedral view at the end. Butchery Lane is where you can capture the essence of Canterbury in one photo.

Mercery Lane

The Cathedral entrance on Mercery Lane in Canterbury, Kent

At the end of Mercery Lane, there’s a square and the entrance to the Cathedral. The square is usually swarming with tourists, but it’s somewhere you absolutely must visit.

The Old Buttermarket on Burgate in Canterbury, Kent

Mill Lane

Abbots Mill Garden in Canterbury, Kent

Mill Lane is right next to the river and it’s a lovely place to sit during the evenings when the sun is setting. The Millers Arms pub and hotel is located on the corner of Mill Lane and I’d really recommend it, if you’re planning a trip to Canterbury.

Love Lane

Love Lane street art in Canterbury, Kent

Love Lane is a short walk from the city bus station. It has some really adorable houses and it’s colourful street sign makes it really stand out from other residential streets in the area. I definitely recommend getting a photo of the 3 colourful doors – it’s a perfect shot for Instagram!

This is where you get an alternative view of the Cathedral, away from the tourist crowds.

Westgate Gardens

Westgate Gardens is at the lower end of the high street and it’s a great little escape spot, when you fancy getting away from the touristy parts of the city!

Canterbury is a photographer’s dream. Have you visited the city before?
