Fashion Friday – The NYE Little Black Dress

With my sister Steph

Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s finally 2016, and what a year 2015 was. My sister got married, I went travelling, and I started my second year of University. I’m not a massive fan of going out clubbing, so I headed to a local vintage bar with friends for the bar’s ‘New Year’s Eve Shindig’.

In the post-Christmas sales, I managed to pick up this little black dress for only £7 in New Look! It’s high necked, which seems to be my go-to style at the moment, and it’s got a shimmer to it: who doesn’t love a bit of glitter on New Year’s Eve? In day-to-day life, I am known for my love of pinks and reds, but for an evening out, I always feel most comfortable in black. It’s a flattering colour, and you can always pair it with a bold lipstick; I’m wearing a mix of Kate Moss’s Rimmel lipsticks in 30 (deep purple) and 111 (red). I find 111 quite vibrant on it’s own, but blending it with 30 gives it a darker, more contrasting look.

In addition to a bold lipstick, a colourful clutch bag is always a good idea. To compliment the outfit, I opted for my pink ‘Therapy’ one that I received for Christmas.

Now onto shoes! As I’m 5ft 8 I don’t normally wear heels, but on New Years Eve I always wear a low pair. These double-strapped ones are from Dorothy Perkins, and for a pair of heels with heavy buckles, they are actually quite elegant. They’re definitely a classic pair that go with any dress, so I didn’t struggle finding the right shoes for the evening. I lasted for 6 hours in them, so it was definitely a successful evening (minus the sore feet at the very end).

I really enjoyed wearing this outfit last night, and the little black dress was an absolute bargain. My sister Steph’s dress was from New Look too, and can also be purchased in the New Look sale.

I hope you had a wonderful New Years Eve. How did you celebrate?

Thank you for reading my blog.

Love
Mouse Chick
