For me, the brighter and crazier a handbag, the better. One of my favourite places to buy unique and colourful handbags is Accessorize. They are known for their retro bags that play on 50s-80s trends and for Christmas in 2014, I received their ’80s hits’ radio cassette bag. After wearing it for the best part of the last 15 months, I finally decided that it’s time to retire it (it’s looking a little faded around the edges) and on my visit to Westfield Stratford City last weekend, I went searching for a replacement.
If you’ve seen my Instagram lately, in fact you can probably tell from these blog photos, I love deep pink. Not only am I pink mad, I am also a magpie for anything glittery, so you can see why the Soda Pop bag caught my eye as soon as I walked into store. Discounted from £29 to £24, it’s a vintage and retro fan’s perfect bag. Complete with a can-style top, it’s a great homage to 50s American popular culture and I can’t wait to start wearing it! It’s really going to add an extra ‘pop’ of fun to my Spring and Summer outfits.
to see it on Accessorize’s website.
One of the other bags on offer was based on a vintage telephone, but without a proper zip fastening, it wasn’t appropriate for my daily use. Luckily my Mum found it as a purse for only £4 (reduced from £8) and after liking the telephone bag so much, getting the purse was the perfect alternative. I got to purchase something with the unique vintage design, but with a nicer price tag and in a more useful format for me. Wouldn’t it be so awesome to have a classic telephone like this today? It’d be the perfect retro addition to a home.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find the purse on the website, but click here to the see the matching bag.
As a retro and vintage geek, I cant wait to debut these new accessories. Expect lots of outfit detail pictures on Instagram over the coming weeks.
