Freshers’ week as a third year

I can hardly believe that this is my last freshers’ week here at Kent. This time next year I should hopefully be in a full time job and living life in the ‘real world’, not the student bubble I’ve been used to for the past 2 years. Freshers’ week is an excuse for new students to meet new friends, get settled at the Uni and party hard, before the work commences. Last year and this year, I haven’t been interested in the party scene at all, so I thought I’d share some of the different things I’ve been up to this week.

Sunday

My parents took me back to Canterbury and I moved into my new house. I’m so grateful for their help with moving in; my bedroom would have been such a state without their persistence! Here’s a few photos from our meal at Pizza Express.

Monday

I met some friends for lunch at Café Nero and then spent the afternoon decorating my room with all of the lovely Talking Tables ‘Truly Alice’ items. You can see my full room tour here.

Tuesday

Tuesday was admin day and it involved lots of ‘adulting’. I went up to campus to sort out a few bits for the coming year, including getting the campus employability office to look at my CV and changing my address at the doctors.

Wednesday

As I live in a 9 bedroom house, we definitely have the space for get togethers. We hosted a housewarming BBQ on Wednesday and it was so much fun! Even if we had to carry the BBQ and food back from Asda on foot…
We have a really lovely garden, so we wanted to make the most of the warm weather and organise an outdoor event!

Thursday

This was the first day of ‘Freshers Fayre’: Kent’s societies and sports clubs exhibition event. I volunteered for the blogging society and helped recruit new members. We’re so lucky to have this society at the Uni!
Mario (Metaphorically Me), Gless (Glessabella), Alisha (Alisha Ockenden) and I

Friday

Yesterday I went to the Canterbury Food and Drink Festival (click here for the post) and then spent the evening baking Abbey Louisa Rose‘s chocolate brownies with my housemates! Baking was such a lovely thing to do on a Friday night. I hope we get to do lots of it this year!

I’ve had such a lovely week catching up with friends and getting back into student life.
Are you still a student?
What did you get up to during freshers’ week?
Thanks for reading my blog today.
