Why I love University

You know those days when you just appreciate everything and everyone around you? Well that’s me today. It’s been a bit of an odd week: I got a running injury and now I’m struggling to walk around Canterbury. It’s my own fault for overdoing it whilst exercising… when will I ever learn? My boyfriend and friends have been beyond amazing: making sure I rest as much as possible, giving me painkillers and going to the shops for me when I needed a hot water bottle and some deep heat. This week has got me thinking how much I love it here at University; everybody is so nice and I’m really enjoying my course this year. I’m also very happy to be a part of the Blogging Society for another year; it’s great having real life friends that like blogging just as much as you! For today’s post, I thought I’d talk about why I love University.

1. You make friends for life.

Through my course, societies and mutual friends, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some truly fab people at University. I’m going to miss my Uni friends so much next year!

2. There are lots of societies.

There’s a society or club for pretty much everything at University. Going to society meetings in the evening is a great way to de-stress after lectures. Lots of societies host events as well as general meetings, so if you’re an active society member, your social calendar is always going to be very full!

Our blogging society hosted a photoshoot event last night and I had to join in. It was so much fun, who’d have thought lightbulbs would be such a great prop?

3. You get taught such a variety of subjects.

Studying for my Technology degree has definitely helped bring out my inner IT geek. One day I’ll be working on code, the next I’ll be designing video games. It’s so exciting getting to study a variety of topics and subjects!

4. Living with other students is so much fun.

I have 8 housemates this year. 8? Yes! Our student house is huge. I’ve been there for 5 weeks already and I’ve had such a brilliant time.

5. No day is ever the same.

Although you can maintain some sort of routine by going up to campus regularly, there’s not really a Monday to Friday when you’re a student. It means life’s always really exciting though and every day is different!

Are you at University?
What do you like most of all about the experience?
Thanks for reading my blog today.

Hi Kat, glad I found your blog. I finished uni almost 10 years ago but I loved my time there. I learnt so many things and it gave me the opportunity to spend a year abroad as a language assistant too. Can't wait to read more here 😉 Have a great weekend!

I've never been to uni and I don't plan to but it sounds like you have such a great time! It's difficult for me to meet new people and make new friends, I guess that's the one thing I'm missing out on by not going to university!xx

  4. It's been a long time since I was at uni, but this post is making me miss it so much!
