Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year. As soon as it’s 1st November, my brain is in full Christmas mode and I start to wonder if it’s acceptable to start putting Christmas decorations up. I love fairy lights, tinsel and getting to make the house look pretty and festive, so it’s no wonder I’m a huge fan of Christmas. On Thursday, Canterbury switched on it’s Christmas lights and along with some fellow Canterbury bloggers, I went to the celebration event.
We started the festivities at Costa because we wanted to try some of their Christmas drinks. I ordered the ‘hot spiced apple’ which was absolutely delicious and I couldn’t resist ordering a gingerbread muffin to go with it. Not only did the muffin look brilliant, it tasted so good too! I’m going to make it my mission to try all of the Costa Christmas cakes and drinks at least once this Christmas season.
We wandered outside to see the lights just after half 6 and the high street was absolutely full of people! Stephen Mulhearn and the cast of this year’s Canterbury pantomine were switching the lights on. After a countdown, the streets were all lit up with the beautiful lights – my favourite being the coloured sphere lights that you can see in the top photo!
After the celebration ended, we strolled around the streets, taking pictures of the lights. It was a great opportunity to have a festive evening, whilst at the same time catch up with my Canterbury blogger friends.
