When I go to Walt Disney World later in the year, I’ll have the Disney Dining Plan. In 2013 we had the Quick Service Dining Plan, so it’s not my first time using dining credits at Walt Disney World, but it’ll be more exciting having the opportunity to eat at table service restaurants this trip. To make sure you get the best of the dining plan, it is recommended that you book your restaurant reservations 180 days in advance. Thanks to help from Lisa (Far Away Lisa Mae), Lottie (Lottie Does), Rachel (Rachellaurus) and The Mouse For Less blog, booking dining reservations was a very smooth process for me. I thought I’d talk about my experience booking Disney dining on my blog today.
1. Choosing restaurants
On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, I did lots of research on the Walt Disney World website, looking at which restaurants were included within the dining plan. I was only looking at 1 credit table service restaurants, but luckily Ohana, 1900 Park Fare and some of my other favourites were included. I put together a list of what restaurants would be good for breakfast and what would be dinner options.
2. Creating a first choice and second choice trip schedule
Using the list I’d created and the park opening hours shown on the website, I created a first choice and second choice dining reservations schedule. I wanted to have a little leeway, incase the restaurants I wanted to book were full. Be Our Guest restaurant was on my schedule in multiple places; I’d heard in advance that it was very difficult to get reservations there!
3. Reserving the tables
180 days before the trip, I headed onto the MyDisneyExperience section of the website and I was able to book 10 days of reservations. I got 8/10 of the restaurants I wanted, but the 2 second choices I’ve booked are still really lovely restaurants. I can’t wait to try Boma at our hotel, Cape May Café at the Beach Club and Whispering Canyon Café at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time!
The booking process was relatively stress-free for me and I realise that I was lucky, as the dining reservation system is known for being temperamental.
Are you going to Walt Disney World anytime soon?
Thanks for reading my blog today.
